Posting the party photos tomorrow, but I wanted to share my party outfit today. We never actually went out, but with the house decked in lights, decorations and friends, it felt like we were somewhere special.
On Caroline:
Onesie dress – Target
Tights – Gymboree
On me:
Dress – H&M
Sweater and hair flower – Sears (yes, and I used a coupon)
Tights – Rue 21 (pro tip: “One size fits most” really means if you’re under about 5’5″ you’ll be fine; otherwise you’ll be tugging them up all night)
Heels – Missoni for Target
Belt – Betsey Johnson (bought at TJ Maxx)
I spent weeks shopping online for a dress. I wanted to look a little fancy as the hostess but still be practical since I’d be cooking, pouring drinks and chasing kids. I didn’t get anything ordered in time, so on a run to the mall to pick up a play kitchen I dashed into H&M and grabbed the first party dress that worked. Honestly, much of what they sell isn’t aimed at someone my age — knit fair isle leggings with a crop top were not calling my name. But this tulle dress was cute, affordable and a bit short, so I paired it with tights. I was happy to fit into a size 10 at a trendier store; given how much I ate at the party, it might not fit me today!
