This buffalo chicken dip is the perfect game-day appetizer—full of the classic wing flavors without the frying or the mess.

The biggest day of the year for football fans is coming up, and it’s time to decide which appetizers to bring. If you want something crowd-pleasing and easy to share, buffalo chicken dip is always a hit.
Buffalo sauce is one of my go-to flavors for game day. A good homemade buffalo sauce is simple to make and brings that tangy, spicy kick to any dish. This dip delivers the same flavor you love from buffalo wings, but in an easier-to-eat format.

Buffalo Chicken Dip Recipe
This recipe works with any cooked chicken. Use dark meat if you prefer richer flavor, white meat for a leaner option, or grab a rotisserie chicken to save time. Shredded or chopped chicken both work well.
Combine creamy textures with tangy buffalo sauce and a blend of cheeses for a warm, bubbly dip that’s ideal for sharing.

What to serve with buffalo chicken dip
Serve the dip with sturdy dippers that can hold a generous scoop: tortilla chips, sliced French bread, and thick-cut carrot and celery sticks are my favorites. Cut vegetables thicker so they act like little spoons and carry more dip.

Make-ahead tips
If you’re short on time, assemble the dip the night before. Cover the dish tightly and refrigerate. When you’re ready to serve, bake straight from the fridge, adding an extra 5–10 minutes to the baking time so it heats through and bubbles at the edges.
Freezing advice
I don’t recommend freezing this dip after it’s cooked. Because it contains shredded cheese, freezing and thawing can change the texture and cause separation. For best results, make and serve fresh or keep refrigerated until baking.
