I first created these tags when my daughter was in preschool and I couldn’t find anything I loved, so I designed my own. Ten years later she helped update the set, and it’s still one of our go-to Halloween projects.

They remain simple, kid-friendly, and easy to print at home or at a print shop.

Supplies Needed

  • White cardstock (65–110 lb) — sturdier than regular paper so tags hold up on goodie bags.
  • Color printer — inkjet or laser will work; set scale to 100% for accurate sizing.
  • Paper trimmer or scissors — trimmers give clean, straight cuts; scissors work in a pinch.
  • Hole punch — for threading ribbon or twine through the tags.
  • Ribbon, string, or baker’s twine — to tie tags onto bags or packages.
  • Optional: sticker paper — print the designs as peel-and-stick labels instead of tie-on tags.
  • Optional: laminator — to make tags reusable year after year.

How to Use the Halloween Tags

The designs are intentionally general and mix-and-match friendly. Each tag includes a blank name area so you can personalize them as needed.

Label Printing Tips

  • These printable Halloween tags are for personal use only. Resale or commercial use is not permitted.
  • When you download the file, a PDF opens in a new tab. Use the printer icon to print or the download arrow to save the PDF to your device.
  • For best results print in color on 8.5×11″ white cardstock. A paper cutter gives the neatest edges, but scissors work fine.
  • An at-home printer is usually sufficient—just set scale to 100% (Actual Size) to preserve proportions.

Troubleshooting

  • Colors look dull or smear: Print on bright white cardstock, let ink dry fully, and use the “Best” quality print setting.
  • Tags print too small or large: Ensure printer scale is set to 100% (Actual Size) and not “Fit to Page.”
  • Margins cut off the design: Use 8.5×11″ paper and select borderless printing if available.
  • PDF won’t open: Download the file and open with a PDF reader like Adobe Acrobat if your browser reader has issues.
  • Edges aren’t straight: A paper trimmer makes cutting fast and accurate; sharp scissors will do if needed.
  • Want reusable tags? Laminate printed tags, then punch holes and attach ribbon for durable, repeatable use.
